This sadhana and tsok, based on the Seven Line Prayer, comes from the great Jamgӧn Mipham Rinpoche (1846-1912), one of the most influential Tibetan scholars and mahasiddhas.

Tibet has had three emanations of Manjushri and one is Mipham Rinpoche. He has been most kind for the Nyingma doctrine in particular. In ancient times, the Dharma in Tibet had “Khen-Lob-Chӧ-Sum” (Khenpo Shantarakshita, Loppӧn Pema Jungnay, and Chӧgyal Trisong Deutsen); then after Guru Rinpoche, “Zo-Sur-Nub-Sum (Zo Yeshe Jungnay, Sur Shakya Gyaltsen, and Nub Sangye Yeshe); and later Rang-Long-Ju-Sum (Rangdzompa, Longchenpa, and Ju Mipham). In this way, the Dharma continues in an unbroken stream since it was established, maintained, and spread throughout Tibet and the world.

This practice of Shower of Blessings is central to all Nyingmapa and particularly to our own lord protector Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, who leads us in this practice all the time. It is so profound and rich, yet so simple and easy to do. Generally for the Nyingmapa, the essence of practice is the Seven Line Prayer, a treasure found by so many treasure revealers. This Shower of

Blessings is related with that practice, a guru yoga based on Guru Rinpoche. Guru yoga is the highest and fastest method for attaining realization.

Our sangha does this Shower of Blessings tsok on Guru Rinpoche Day, in particular, and because everyone’s doing the practice, I thought it would be good to make some commentary so we can more deeply understand its profound meaning and enrich our practice, absorbing its blessings. Please join us for a dharma party retreat at Pema Ӧsel Ling this Thanksgiving weekend.
