Hi Roserasa,
I read about this principle the first time in a book titled Old Path White Clouds. The author of the book used the word "Dependent Co-arising Principle." The book is about the Buddha's bio and teachings. Although the book was written as a novel -- for ease of reading, I supposed, -- it is based on ancient records found in many countries. In my opinion, the book offers unadulterated, true Buddhism. It has sold over 2 million copies worldwide and received 5 star rating from readers on Amazon.com (50+ reviews). Here's the link: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Old-Path-White-Clouds-Footsteps/dp/0938077260]Old Path White Clouds: Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha: Thich Nhat Hanh: 9780938077268: Amazon.com: Books[/ame]
Anyway, this Dependent Origination principle is the very message that the movie Cloud Atlas tries to get across. I'm sure you'll like the movie.
